Like any good photo/movie shooter is a fluid head. Those rickity standard mounts just wont cut it for anything outside of mounting lighting and some mild measuring equipment. Even than they can still benefit from its easy of config and use.Now theres a sea of these things floating around on amazon, from various overseas manufacturers. And on paper they look great, and even feel great in your hand. But for actual use they are rough, jittery, and some I noticed arent even actual fluid heads and just roller bearing with some tensioner to make it feel that way. So you have got to be careful who you buy from. Now of course you could sink 1k into a brand name. But hey do I want a 1-2k tripod or some new lenses for my setup (I think we all know the answer to that one) However I dont want to use a cheap tripod/head either. So theres got to me a happy medium.So this Ifootage head is beyond my wildest expectations. It makes my 1.5k fluid head Ive been using for nearly a year seem like junk. Seriously its just that good. Motion is smooth, theres no roughness or fluid bubbling skips like with others (not sure how they got around that) Its also very beefy and very sturdy. This matched with the Ifootage tripod is a gift from the heavens and more importantly my pocketbook (and wife) They are both my primary use pod and head for shooting with my primary camera. Now they sure dont look as snazzy as my carbon fiber setup, but honestly these put it to shame with stability and fluidness. Ive actaully bought 2 more of these and 2 more of the tripods as well for my measuring equipment and lighting. They are super compact and easy to carry and crazy fast to deploy (which is nice when youre setting up a studio shot for an hour shoot and need to get things setup and tore down quickly!
