I LOVE THIS CONTROLLER! It makes filming so much easier. I’ve attached this to the pan bar of my Manfrotto 500AH and it works perfectly! Build quality is solid and it works as expected. It does take a significant twist of the zoom control to get my Canon VIXIA HF G21 camcorder to zoom or pan out with any speed, but at least it is not as sensitive as the camcorder’s controls. I know you can adjust the sensitivity of zoom through the camcorder’s menu but I like having the variable zooming speed if needed and this controller also allows for a finer control of the zoom. You can use the start and stop button on the controller to initiate and end recordings as well. I have not tried the power button on it yet so I cannot comment on that. All in all, this was a great purchase. I would recommend this for anyone that wants easier and smoother zooming control of your camcorder.With that said, there are drawbacks, but only a few. The cord supplied with the controller is a tad bit short and you may have to stretch it a bit if you have your pan bar on the left side of the tripod and your remote input is on the front right of the camcorder. I am left handed and find that the pan bar works better for me on the left. With this set up, the cord is slightly stretched across the base of the head on my tripod. Not a deal breaker but just something to consider.Also, the start/stop button is not a raised physical button but rather a button under a plastic “covering” (similar to buttons found on refrigerator or dishwasher doors). I would guess that over time, the covering might crack or split with frequent pushing. I record high school football games with my camcorder, and frequently start and stop recordings - only recording the actual plays. I am concerned that with the amount of times I press this button during a single game (probably close to 100-150 times), it might cause premature cracking of the cover. Only time will tell.Finally, the price was a bit steep, as there are others for sale at a quarter of this controller’s price, but the quality construction and feel that this thing has is worth it in my opinion. Manfrotto makes some of the best stuff around for your camera and camcorder needs.So far, this product has been awesome. It has saved my filming from extra jostling and shaking when using my other hand to control the zoom. I highly recommend this product (or any controller for that matter) if better control of your zoom is something you are looking for. You can’t go wrong!!
