I have the matte chrome flavor and wiped down with stainless cleaner before use to inhibit humidity induced rust. The center pedestal where you snuff out cigarette butt I covered with 2 layers of Xtra-Strength aluminum foil to protect it from deterioation. This piece also screws out so you can get a small hand or sponge in the mouth to clean. The interior of the cannister is soooo cleaning friendly, especially since you're snuffing on the center pedestal "butt snuff platter.} Ceiling fan and floor fan full speed....no more ashes, except the ones you spill. I HATE dirty ashtrays and am delighted so easy to empty (with pedestal intact) and an inner wall that does not absorb icky cigarette stuff like a plastic or glass ashtray does, eventually, unless washed, versus merely wiped out, daily. Attractive, discreet and will buy again as a great gift for those few people I know who smoke!Bought this for my balcony. My boyfriend (the smoker) likes it. It seems really good quality.
