If you have one of those 60/61mm APO refractors with the sliding dew shields, look no further. This is its new home. Fits my Astro-Tech 60mm ED perfectly. For the very few of you who are using it as a luxurious finder or guide scope, it also has just enough room for 90mm (inside diameter) rings.The foam is the right quality that is so hard to explain. It is soft and firm at the same time. Things are not moving in there, but if the jolt is hard enough, there is plenty of cushioning. I've purchased cheaper cases and had to replace the foam. Cheap (?) foam is all cushion, but lacks rigidity to keep things from moving. For astronomy and photography folks who have been there, this is the good stuff. Plan your plucks carefully and this foam will last.The case itself feels like it can take a beating. For astronomy folks, don't worry about counterweights sliding against it. The product comes with a brochure. I'm writing this for my other astronomy aficionados who are always looking for equipment that is never tailored to our niche obsession. Traveling to an eclipse? While I know you won't do it under normal circumstances, the case can hold your mini APO and go through the checked baggage system if you are forced to make a choice. As someone who has had to make hard decisions at the airport regarding astronomy equipment, I would make this one every time. Obviously, don't ever check gear worth more than your new or newish car or college education, but this case is much more sturdy than any box for every telescope (60-102mm refractors, 125-278mm Cassegrains) I've ever purchased. It will survive the trip.
